The Differences Between Brushed and Brushless Motors
Brushed motors of silent gen set usually run on direct current.The carbon brushes on both sides connect the positive and negative poles of the motor respectively.When current flows through the armature via the carbon brushes, a magnetic field is generated.The interaction between the armature's magnetic field and the motor's magnetic field causes the armature to rotate, driving the brushed motor to work.
Its biggest advantage is its simple structure and low manufacturing cost.However, its disadvantages are obvious: high noise and short service life.
Since brushed motors rely on carbon brushes contacting the armature to drive rotation, sparks and noise are produced during operation.Carbon brushes and commutators are wearable parts.Therefore, they require regular maintenance and replacement.This is what we mean by "cheap to buy but expensive to use".
A brushless motor is a motor without carbon brushes.It uses electronic commutation to control rotation, instead of traditional carbon brushes and commutators.
It mainly consists of a rotor, a stator, a sensor and an electronic controller.The rotor is a permanent magnet, which creates a permanent magnetic field.The stator is made of winding coils.When energized, it produces a magnetic field.The interaction between this magnetic field and the rotor's magnetic field drives the rotor to rotate.The sensor detects the position of the rotor's magnetic poles and sends the information to the electronic controller.
The electronic controller controls the direction and amount of current based on the rotor position.This achieves motor commutation and control.
